City Directories and History: The Seaboard Railroad depot in Lodge was built ca.
1890. Brick piers support the one-story board and batten structure. The roof is gabled and has projecting eaves and brackets. The windows are six over six (6/6) lights and the doors are four-panel with rectangular transoms. The projecting telegrapher’s bay is on the south side of the building adjacent to the railroad tracks. The original paint colors have been retained, and serves as a wonderful reminder of just how important railway connections were to small rural towns across the region.

Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.
