City Directories and History: ROBERT FENWICK GILES HOUSE
Constructed circa 1850; altered 1885
“This two-and-a-half-story, side-hall-plan house retains the customary closed front gable and the double-tiered piazzas with Tuscan columns usually associated with Charleston’s Greek Revival period. A subsequent owner, William P. Holmes, applied Victorian detailing in 1885. Most of these changes have been removed, although a Neoclassical revival door surround has been added.”
