City Directories and History: ARCHIBALD BAKER SR. HOUSE
Constructed 1914
Dr. Archibald E. Baker Sr., founder of Baker Sanitorium (later Baker Hospital) and father of the builder of 36 Murray Boulevard, erected another of the early houses on the newly filled Battery (now Murray) Boulevard. Dr. Baker’s brick dwelling features a two-story, double-tiered piazza on its front facade. The square columns on the side of the building are original, while the front Tuscan style columns reflect recent alterations. The building has a notable interior with mantels and other woodwork reminiscent of the Neoclassical style.
