This house was constructed in 1855. The first documented resident, in 1914, was Mary L. Burns, widow of C.B. Burns. Subsequent occupants included George F. Cooley, policeman, and his wife Lela. Toward the end of the historic period in 1941, the building was occupied by Henry E. Beard, an agent for the Standard Oil Company and president of Beard-Laney, Inc., and his wife Mary. About 1 965, the house was carved into several apartments and remained that way until 1994 when Vernon and Rhonda Hammond restored it to a single family residence. [Camden Archives and Museum]
