City Directories and History: 1905 – Western Union Telegraph Company, 1909 – Western Union Telegraph Company,
At one time, 109 West Benson Street was home to Dickson Ice Cream Company, a favorite “cold” spot in downtown Anderson for several generations. The building has been converted to a residential property and is now the home of the Dickson Lofts.
The oral interview with J.H. Gates, Sr., link this page, tells of this as the location of his family’s tire business: Gates and Smith Firestone Store.
The building is a supporting structure of the Anderson Downtown Historic District and described as “early 20th century, brick.”
