City Directories and History:<\/strong><\/span> The historic Arrowhead Diary Farm, AKA the Hutchison Farm on the old Nations Ford Road near Red River, was part of the family’s land grant properties from the 18th century.\u00a0 The Nations Ford or Nation’s Ford road led across the Catawba River and proceeded west to the historic Crossroads location, see link this page.\u00a0 It continued west through the Hutchison’s farm where the dairy complex was built in 1939.\u00a0 Prior to that, the old road witnessed thousands of settlers coming from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and elsewhere to settle in the Carolina backcounrty.\u00a0 The ancient road led to the top of the hill, the Hutchison farm, where it appears there was once a “Cowpens” for holding livestock.\u00a0 Prior to the development of much of this property, the old roadbed and fence enclosures, could easily be viewed.
