The Rock Hill Herald reported on Aug. 11, 1887 – “The old Springs and White Mill on the Catawba River near the railroad bridge has collapsed. It was built in 1832 and furnished bread for the area for fifty years. In June of last year the building was moved by high waters. Last week the high waters after a storm undermined the foundation and it toppled over and shank into the river.”
