Yorkville Enquirer reported on July 17, 1879 – “The India Hook Community celebrated on July 6, 1879 the dedication of the new Methodist Church built there. A large crowd attended and Prof. J.W. Dickson of the Columbia Female College preached. Rev. J.M. Boyd is pastor.”
The Herald reported on Sept. 11, 1884 – “The India Hook church (Methodist) congregation took an offering to have improvements made to the building. Capt. James Hutchison pushed this project forward. The Pastor is Rev. J.B. Traywick.”

The Herald reported on March 15, 1883 – “Ms. Bessies Mills is operating a good school at India Hook.”
The Herald reported on Dec. 19, 1896 – “That Mr. A.L. Lieberger, of India Hook, was in the city Thursday buying materials to build a new school building in that prosperous section. They already have a flourishing school, the teacher being Ms. Ida Love, daughter of Sen. W.B. Love of McConnellsville.”
The Herald reported on March 8, 1899 – “Miss Ida Johnson, sister of the Rev. Oliver Johnson, is teaching school at India Hook and boarding at the home of Mr. A.L. Lineburger.”
The Herald reported on July 2, 1902 -“Mr. S.D. Farris (Faris), had a bad fall recently. He was leaning against one of the post on the piazza of his home in India Hook when it gave way, and he fell to the ground.”
