City Directories and History: Following the Civil War, Mrs. Ann H. White traveled to New York City to secure the inheritance she had received in the 1850’s from her brother Hiram Hutchison of New York. While there she stayed at the Saint Nicholas Hotel. Mrs. White was one of his major recipients of his estate and established her as one of the wealthiest citizens is upcountry S.C.
