J.W. Fewell, M.D. (1847-1895)
The Yorkville Enquirer reported on April 24, 1879 – “Dr. J.W. Fewell and D.P. Steele, have bought the entire stock of drugs of the firm of Williamson and Campbell and will continue business in the same building under the name of Fewell and Steele.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on Nov. 11, 1886 – “The house on Main Street formerly occupied by Major Robertson as a hotel, is being improved. It will be occupied by Dr. J.W. Fewell as his residence.”
On Jan. 27, 1887 the Herald reported – “Fewell and Watson have taken control of the drug store previously owned by Steele, Dubois and Company. The community will welcome Dr. Fewell’s return to the drug business. He is most capable doctor and an experienced an intelligent pharmacist.”
The Herald reported on Nov. 3, 1887 – “Dept. Sheriff W.J. Neely arrived in Rock Hill on Tuesday with warrants for the arrest of four druggist for selling whiskey without prescriptions. Named on the warrants were J.B. Johnson, J.J. Hagins, Dr. R.H. Hope and Dr. J.W. Fewell. The intendent, D. Hutchison had hired a detective from N.C. to bring these charges. The town council refused to pay the bill.”
