The Yorkville Enquirer contained an ad on Sept. 16, 1880 – “for the Cerro Gordo Mills, J.J. Miller and J.C. Miller, owners. The mill has been thoroughly overhauled and remodeled and can do first class work. We have added a turbine wheel, enabling the mill to run at anytime with no fear of stopping on account of low water. We have in use the Excelsior Bolting Cloth. The mills are in chare of Mr. S.W. Alexander, a miller of fine reputation. Corn and wheat can be ground at anytime. The mills are located on Allison Creek about six miles NE of Yorkville.”
The Yorkville Enquirer contained an ad in Jan. 18, 1883 – “A valuable mill property is for sale. The Cerro Gordo Flour Mills with 88 acres and situated on Allison Creek, seven miles NE of Yorkville. An excellent business and the mill has been remodeled with a new Elfiell Turbine Wheel. Contact Dr. J.J. Miller or Mr. J.C. Miller.”
The Yorkville Enquirer of Aug. 7, 1884 reported – “Mr. S.W. Alexander, manager of the Cerro Gordo Flour Mills near Clay Hill has sent the Enquirer a sack of their excellent flour. Mr. S.D. Simril is the proprietor.”
The RH Herald reported on Dec. 8, 1887 – “The PO recently established at Belmont (Neely’s Store), has been discontinued. We feel this action is inexplicable. It is needed by the community and the carrier between Clay Hill and Rock Hill passes in front of this office.” On Dec. 22 the paper further reported – “The PO has ordered the reestablishment of the office at Belmont @ Neely’s Store with Mr. J.B. Neely as Postmaster.”

The Herald reported on May 20, 1880 – “The new Methodist Church at Tirzah has been completed. The dimensions are 58 ft by 36 ft. Mr. W. Challenger of Rock Hill was the contractor.”
The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Oct. 31, 1888 – “Mr. D.A.A. Watson of Clay Hill has purchased a lot on College Street in York in order to build a residence.”
The Herald reported on Nov. 25, 1896 – “That the county commission will improve the highway from Ebenezer to Tirzah Church. It will be worked by convicts next winter and spring. The citizens of Ebenezer have provided 800 wagon loads of rock for this purpose.”
The Herald reported on Nov. 25, 1896 – “The people of Harmony are pleased with Prof. J. A. Barron as Supt. of their public schools.”
