The Rock Hill Herald of April 10, 1884 reported – “Ephraim Steele, colored, living on the plantation of Mr. Frank Massey, had the misfortune of having his home and all of his effects destroyed by fire.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on July 8, 1886 – “The old Blacksmith shop on Main Street in Fort Mill which has long been a disgraced to the town, has been torn down and the lot has been enclosed by a plank fence.” Also the paper reported – “Mr. Dave McCorkle has also opened a barber shop in Fort Mill.”
City Directories and History: The Fort Mill Times reported on Feb. 27, 1913 – Drugs Firm Changes Hands – “On March 1st, J. M. Massey and B.F. Massey, Jr., will assume charge of the well known Main Street drug business of Parks Drug Co., operating under a new name, Massey Drug Store. They are sons of B. Frank Massey. B. F. Massey, Jr., is an experienced drug man having been in business in Clinton, S.C., Rock Hill and Charlotte for ten years. Parks Drug Co. was in existence for five years under S.W. Parks.”
On May 6, 1915 the FM Times reported, “The Sec. of State issued a commission to Hutchinson’s Pharmacy of Fort Mill with a capital stock of $2,500. Jno. M. Hutchinson and B.F. Massey, Sr., the concern will do a general drug and prescription business.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on June 8, 1916 – “Arthur C. Lytle has purchased the interest in the Hutchinson Pharmacy previously owned by B. Frank Massey. Mr. Lytle has for several years been employed by the Park Drug Company.”
