City Directories and History: On June 22, 1892 the YV Enquirer reported – “Mr. V.B. McFadden has erected a telephone line between his home and place of business, a distance of 1.5 miles.”
The Herald reported on June 2, 1931 – “J.G. Sassi was the winner of a golf tournament held at McFadden’s Golf Club.”
On June 12th they reported – “Alton King age 8 drowned in the McFadden Golf Club swimming pool. The funeral services were held at his home on Laurel Street.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on Jan. 15, 1942 – “Mr. and Mrs. U.R. Rodden and family have moved from the Smith’s Community to the former McFadden Club House on West Main Street.” (The exact location of the Rodden family’s W. Main Street home is unknown but for sure it was part of the McFadden’s Golf Club.)
