City Directories and History: Mr. J.J. Watson regularly rented out his skilled slaves: Prim, Allen and William. See receipts for 1856 and 1857 when Ann H. White used their labors.
It appears the J.J. Watson, a land owner – farmer, living near Ann H. White, provided two men, Plim and Allen, “carpenters” to conduct carpentry work for her in the spring of 1857. Ann White paid $1.75 per day for Plim’s services and $1.00 per day for that of Allen’s labors. These two individuals appear to be the property-slaves of J.J. Watson.
