City Directories and History: The Yorkville Enquirer reported on April 11, 1888 – “The closing exercises of Ms. Annie Graham’s school at Catawba Church were held last Friday night.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on April 6, 1942 – “Mrs. S.G. Lowman of Lesslie Hwy near Rock Hill died at the age of 103. Funeral services were at Catawba Baptist Church. She was born in the Dutch Fork section of Lexington Co., on Dec 23, 1838. Her family were Metts, she married Samuel Govan Lowman in 1860. They lived for many years in the Dutch Fork but in 1928 were forced to abandon their home when Lake Murray covered their farm. Mrs. Lowman lived with three daughters on Lesslie Hwy, Charlotte, Berley, and Annie Lowman, who sell flowers in Rock Hill.
