City Directories and History: The Rock Hill Record contained an ad from J. Edgar Poag Realty on Aug 5, 1907 – “Offering the Bowling Green Knitting Mill for sale. The main building is 54 – 104′, it is brick and has 27 machines for knitting and finishing. There is a three story tower room, boiler and engine room. The bleachery has four vats of 500 gallons each. Electricity is in place. The property includes 34 acres and seven tenant houses.”
The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Feb. 9, 1917 – “That the old Bowling Green Knitting Mill is being converted into a spinning mill and will be ready to begin operations within two weeks. A number of families will likely move there soon to secure work.”
