B.N. Craig (1854 – 1945 ) Mr. B. N. Craig moved to Rock Hill as a Lancaster County, SC, native. He family’s farm and holding remain primarily intact in 2014. The Craigs moved to Johnston Street in downtown Rock Hill where he became a successful wholesale food broker along with Mr. O’Neal and other associates. He moved the old one story home on the corner of Greene Street and Johnston to the adjoining lot, so he could construct a new two story home on the preferred corner. He also acquired several additional homes along Johnston Street which he rented.
His primary responsibility was the development and operation of the O’Neal and Craig Wholesale Food Distributors business, on the corner of North Trade Street and East Main Street along the railroad. The success of the business offered ample opportunities for Mr. Craig to acquire real estate throughout the city and later move the family to College Avenue, where he constructed a new home. Members of the family remain in Rock Hill in 2014.
