City Directories and History: The West family lives in what was originally the Porter Good home at Bullock Creek. It does not show on Walker’s 1910 map of the area because the house was not constructed until later.
On this site, Banks Good built a two-story Piedmont farm house in ca. 1870. When the Banks Good family decided to mover to Rock Hill the farm was sold to Porter Good. In 1925 the house burned to the ground by children playing with Christmas candles and cotton. In 1927 Mr. Good rebuilt his home on this site in 1925. While the house was being built, the Goods stayed with the Holshouser family across the road in the old Banks Good home. A member of the West family purchased the house and twenty acres of the old farm in 1963 and the family continues residing here in 2013.
