City Directories and History: 1926 – Mattie White, 1936 – Mattie White, 1959 – Mollie E. Snipes, Snipes Snack Bar, Vinson Butler, *** In 1902 Mattie White is the teacher at the Manchester Mill School.
“East of the Carlisle house was a four-room house, built close to the ground. This was the home of R. P. Dozier. It was built between 1900 and 1910. In 1912 he sold the property to Miss Mattie R. White, principal of the Aragon-~~Manchester School, who had just taken her nephew Boyce White to rear. His parents had died in 1911 and 1912. The house was raised on pillars and a kitchen, dining room, porch and bathroom were added.” [Robbins – White History Tour]
The RH Herald reported on March 13, 1942 – “Mr. and Mrs. Boyce White and family have moved from East White Street to their new home on Elizabeth Lane.”
The Herald on May 1, 1942 reported, ” Wm. White of Rock Hill won the highest scholarship of the entire student body at Presbyterian College in Clinton this year.”
