City Directories and History: 1908 – C.A. Westerland at Woodland Park
On Feb. 11, 1886 the Yorkville Enquirer reported – “Last Saturday Mr. J.W. Brown carried a gun to the shop of Mr. J.W. Westerland for repairs. A workman, not aware that it was loaded accidently fired it. Several person in the shop fortunately were not hit.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on May 19, 1887 – “Mr. J.W. Westerland has a roofing contract in Edgefield. He is presently conducting his business in Holler’s Hall.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on Nov. 29, 1888 – “A cabin occupied by Wylie Moore, colored, on Mr. J.W. Brown’s Place several miles west of Rock Hill was destroyed by fire.” (Not to be confused with Mr. J.W. Brown of western York County.)
The Herald reported on Nov. 21, 1900 – “Mr. C.A. Werterlund is erecting a five room cottage on Saluda Ave., in the rear of the home of Mr. Romedy.”
The Herald reported on Dec. 6, 1902 – “Mr. J.W. Werterlund went to Lancaster Thursday where he is engaged in covering the Graded School building now under construction.”
