City Directories and History: This home was constructed by local architect – builder, Mr. Julian S. Starr for J.D. Leseman in 1924 at a cost of $10,000. [The SC Architects: 1885-1935 Wells & Dalton, 1992 attributed this building to Julian S. Starr]
The Herald reported on Nov. 2, 1918 – “Dr. and Mrs. Alexander Martin moved yesterday into their handsome new residence on Park Avenue.” (The S.C. Dept. of Archives survey card states this was the Martin home. However, the 1922 Rock Hill City Directory states they lived at #434 Park Ave.. Dr. Martin was pastor of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church. His wife was Eudora V. Martin.)
The Herald reported on May 13, 1940 – “Mr. and Mrs. Joe Easley and family have moved from 411 Park Ave., to their new home on 844 Myrtle Dr., in Cherry Park.”
