City Directories and History: 1958 – Ray N. King, 1966 – Ross B. Martin
Please see comment from Ginger King Hilderbrand in the comments section below or here: “403 East Liberty Street in York is the house I grew up in. I lived there with my mom and dad, Ray and Virginia King, as well as my older brother, Ray. My dad told me the story about the circus building a stronger house for the elephants using large blocks of stone on Roosevelt Street. When the elephant house was completed, the two stone houses on East Liberty Street were built with the left over stone. He was approach one day at his business, The Western Auto Store, 31 N. Congress Street in York, to buy one of the stone houses. The ARP Church purchased the other stone house to be used as the Church Manse. The date these houses were built in York is well before 1958. My birthday is 1948 and we lived in this house at that time. 1958 is about the correct date for the addition to the original residence of a new kitchen and den in the basement.”
