City Directories and History: This home once sat on Howell’s Ferry Road just south of Hickory Grove, SC. In the 20th century it became the country home of Philip VanEvery but historically it was constructed in circa 1855 and the home is attributed to York County builder, Mr. Lawson Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins is also attributed as the builder of the Allison house. For many years the home was associated with the Leech family of western York County and was demolished by the new owners in the 1990’s.
