City Directories and History: Sharon Baptist congregation was organized met there in the upper room for a time and met at the Sharon Methodist Church. In 1942 the congregation began a building on land donated by Rebecca Saye Bankhead.
The RH Herald reported on April 10, 1941 – “A lot on Hwy 91 in Sharon, was donated to the Baptist congregation by Mr. J.H. Saye, a member of the Pres. Church. It is being cleared now and a new church will be erected. This will be the fourth church in Sharon, joining the ARP, Methodist and Presbyterian churches. The Baptist congregation has been meeting in the Pratt Building.”
On April 24, 1942 the Herald reported – “Work is progressing on the Baptist Church in Sharon and it should be completed soon. While it is under construction the congregation has been meeting in the upstairs room at the W.L. Hill, Jr. building on Main Street.”
