City Directories and History: 1917 – J.H. Miller (350 Oakland), with W.J. Roddey and Co., (Cammie), 1946 – Cammie B. Miller, 1963 – Jean Miller, Margaret King, Roy Barron
James Spratt White wrote in ca. 1940 – “Shortly after moving into the house (Edwards-White Home on White Street), the late Mr. J. H. Miller, then a little country boy from Chester County, came to live with us and went to work for J. M. Ivy and Company. Afterward he was cashier at First National Bank. At the time of his death, he was cashier of the Roddey General Agency of the Equitable Life Assurance Society.”
The City Directory of 1913 states he worked for the Equitable Co., his full name was Joseph H. Miller and was married to Cammie. In 1915 the McElwee Store ledger states they were account holders.
The Rock Hill Record reported, “April 13, 1908 – the residence of Mr. J.H. Miller, which is being erected on Oakland Ave., will be completed soon.”
