City Directories and History:1901 – J.B. Heath, 1908 – Rev. and Mrs. R.T. Marsh – Pastor First Baptist Church (In 1909 they moved to Marion Street.)
“Mr. and Mrs. Jim Heath lived next to the Miles Johnsons. Mrs. Heath was their daughter. Mr. Heath was in the livery stable business. (In later years the Heaths lived on Reid Street where the Dacus family eventually came to live.) Below the Heaths was a two-story house that served as the home of the local Presiding Elder of the Methodist Church.” [Robbins – White Tour Booklet]
The Rock Hill Herald reported on Sept. 16, 1886 – “Mr. J.B. Heath has purchased the livery and feed stables of Poag and Johnston and will continue the business.”
The Herald reported on Sept. 2, 1896 – “Mr. J. B. Heath has let the contract for a handsome two story house on Hampton Street, work has already begun.” Oct. 10 – “Contractor A. D. Holler has finished Heath’s handsome residence on Hampton Street. The work was completed in five week.”
The Rock Hill Record reported on Dec. 19, 1907 – “Contained a letter from R. T. Marsh, Pastor of First Baptist Church, in which he stated the pastorium (minister’s home), is at this address.”
