The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Feb. 22, 1893 – “Mr. W.J. Cherry has moved into his new and handsome residence in Oakland. His mother, who has been living in Chester Co., is now living with him.”
The Herald reported on June 27, 1906 – That the Honorable W.J. Cherry is having a nice dwelling erected on Oakland Avenue. (The 1936 RH City Directory states that Wm. J. Cherry – Attorney maintains his office at 302 Peoples Bank Bldg.)
In 1915 – 16, the McElwee Store ledger listed W.J. Cherry and his wife Tattie B., as account holders at the store. His attorney’s office was the the People’s Bank Building.
The Fort Mill Times contained an ad on July 26, 1917 for Wm. J. Cherry, Attorney at Law, with offices on the second floor of the Ardrey Building in Fort Mill and an office in Rock Hill.
The Record reported Jan. 24, 1929 – “Lawyer W.J. Cherry is branching out into the insurance and real estate business. His firm will be called the Cherry Company. His offices are on the third floor of the Peoples National Bank building.”
