This Building Has History ™
Name: T.O. Flowers / Bass Funeral Home
Architect: Julian Starr
Builder: Unknown
Constructed: 1889
The T.O. Flowers home, built in 1889, was originally a simple frame dwelling. It was enlarged and enhanced in 1909 by Julian Starr, a Rock Hill Contractor turned architect. It passed through several families, and in the 1960-70s served as the Bass Funeral Home. The home was demolished in 2012 to make room for the Fountain Park Plaza, part of Comporium’s development of East Main Street. This corner lot has undergone significant changes in Rock Hill’s short history. Originally, only a lot on East Main Street, when Elizabeth Lane was cut through, this corner commercial lot was created in the early 20th century.
