City Directories and History: The Jefferson Davis Whitesides House on Charles Whitesides Road near Sharon was constructed in 1912. The home has pressed metal shingles in the pediment of the second story porch. There is also a turned balustrade on the full-facade front porch of this Colonial Revival home. A tenant house, built in the 1940s is located across the road. [Historical Properties of York County, SC – 1995]
Note the 1910 Walker map of York County shows a J. Whitesides living next to this house just prior to the 1912 Whitesides home being constructed next door.
