City Directories and History: 1925 – Rock Hill Lumber Company, 1946 – White Oil Company, 1963 – White Oil Company and Service Station
This filling station was sandwiched between Waldrop Supply Company and the railroad. The long-term location of Rock Hill Lumber Company owned by J.C. Cauthen of Rock Hill, opened in about 1925 at this location. The Herald reported on May 26, 1925, “That Rock Hill Lumber Company, for a number of years located on Oakland Ave., opposite the city water and light plant, plans to move soon to East White Street, opposite Rock Hill High School.”
