The Herald Reported on Dec. 11, 1919 – “That the fire department was called this morning to the home of Capt. and Mrs. C.A. Johnson, at the corner of Black and Academy Streets to extinguish a blaze on the second floor. It was thought the fire started from a faulty flue. The lose included a considerable amount of valuable laces and other articles gather by Capt. Johnson on his stay in France with the American army.”
