City Directories and History: 1908 – W.H. Neistler,
On March 4, 1880 the Rock Hill Herald reported, “Mr. J.R. Neistel of Charlotte has purchased a lot on Cemetery Street (West White St.), and proposes to put up the necessary building to run a grist mill, cotton gin, and planning machine.” ***The paper reported on May 13th that Mr. Neistler is putting up the building for his grist mill. He expects the machinery to arrive in a few days, and it will be then put in operation.
The RH Herald reported on Jan. 5, 1888 – “Mr. J.R. Neisler is now living in the house recently vacated by Mr. Joyner.”
On Oct. 11, 1895 YV Enquirer – “Will Thomason, while working at the ginnery of Mr. J.R. Neistler got his arm caught in the brush wheel, resulting in lacerations.”
The Herald reported on March 15, 1899 – “Mr. J.R. Neistler has bought a planning mill outfit and will in a few days erect this mill on the lot where the ginnery is located.”
The Herald reported on April 4, 1903 – “J.R. Neisler has moved his family to the residence of R. Lee Kerr. The cottage on White Street vacated by Neisler is now occupied by R.L. Mobley and family.”
The Herald reported on Sept. 19, 1925 – “That there was a fire at the old Neisler Cotton Ginnery on West White Street, now owned by the Highland Park Manf. Company.” Mr. Neisler lives at 126 North Wilson Street.
