City Directories and History: See history of this structure at 102 East Liberty Street. This served as the Episcopal Rectory for many years.
The Yorkville Enquirer of Aug. 31, 1887 reported – “The Episcopal congregation has determined to build a rectory and contracts have been given to Mr. J.C. Kennedy for the woodwork and Mr. Sigmon for masonry and plastering. The house will be built on the lot south of Mr. J.O. Walker’s residence on Congress Street and expected to be completed by the first of November.” (RR believes this was on Cleveland Street.)
The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Jan. 4, 1888 – “Rev. E.N. Joyner, rector of the Episcopal Church has moved to Yorkville. The rectory built for his use is not yet finished. He will continue to serve the Rock Hill parish as well.”
The Yorkville Enquirer reported on Sept. 26, 1888 – “The painting of the Episcopal Parsonage has been completed and the house presents a very neat appearance. The paint manufacturers of NY, Longman and Martinez, donated the paints and oils.”
