City Directories and History: The Glenn Springs Community History page and more… Glenn Springs was not only an important resort and bottling facility but one of the major farming areas in Spartanburg County. Not everyone lived in town but still received their mail via Glenn Springs and related to those who lived nearby. One of these individuals tells her story on the attached video, the memories of Kate Eloise Gregory – Johns, born Oct. 4, 1911. Her family had grown up in rural Spartanburg County, near Glenn Springs as sharecroppers and later acquired their own property in 1939. She was the daughter of Kate Atlantic West (1884-1975) and Walter Elmore Gregory (1885-1958). The video is highly informative and outlines their family story. As an adult, she worked in the office, at Draper Textile Manufacturing Company in Spartanburg, as did several other close family members. The Draper Corp. was a major manufacturer of textile equipment. See the history links this page for additional information on Glenn Springs history!
