City Directories and History: R&R believes this is the Westmoreland – Arnold home at Woodruff, ca. 1840, as well as a companion log home in the same family. (The SCDAH Survey Cards are unclear.)
Arnold, Henry Harding, farmer ; born near Woodruff, S. C., December 5, 1851; son of Thomas and Martha D. (Harding) Arnold; attended “Old Field” schools, entered Reidville Male Academy at age of 18, attend- ing that school for three years; magistrate for two years, member of S. C. House of Representatives for ten years, member of Board of Directors of State Pen- itentiary for two years, public school trustee for eigh- teen years, now State Railroad Commissioner, having been elected in November, 1918; during World War served as chairman Exemption Board No. 1, Spartan- burg County; married Mary J.
