David John Beard began teaching in 1969 at Palmetto High School in Palmetto, Louisiana. He retired from the St. Landry Parish School System after 21 years. He taught for 7 years at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, Louisiana and returned to the Louisiana Public School System where he worked in Acadia Parish Schools for three years before becoming Director of Teacher Clinical Experiences in the College of Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. In 2019, he separated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. After two years, he returned as an Adjunct Instructor and then became full time again beginning with the Fall 2023 Semester where he currently remains.
