1930 — Present
The Split Level home was a modem housing style that made use of multiple levels to divide the sleeping space from the other more functional sections of the home. In most split level homes, the main living space and kitchen was found on the main level with a short staircase that separated the bedroom area and a garage at yet another elevation. Split Level homes often had low pitched roofs that crossed at multiple levels and the façade was always asymmetrical. Similarly to the Ranch style, the Split Level made use of the attached garage along with sliding glass doors, large picture windows, and minimal decorative elements.
