City Directories and History: Bear Creek is a rural community east of Blythewood in Upper Richland. It was the scene of much activity in Reconstruction Days by Wade Hampton’s Red Shirts. The small voting precinct at Bear Creek is usually the first rural box in the county to report, but there is no indication that “as goes Bear Creek, so goes the county.”
