City Directories and History: (SC National Register Property) Reported to have been constructed in circa 1908, the Aveleigh Presbyterian Church building is a modern Gothic architectural style. The church itself was organized in 1835 and the church building itself underwent further renovations in the 1920’s.
“Twenty years ago I was christened in Aveleigh Presbyterian Church in Newberry. After many years of visiting in this town, I hope that I will never forget its attraction and charm. This charm can best be seen in many of Newberry’s older homes. The research done in this paper centers around six of the homes that remain standing. There are many others which I should have liked to include but I did not have the time to write of them properly. – Virginia Pender”
