City Directories and History: This large farm was originally that of Marcus Spearman, of Spearman’s Springs. The Neoclassical Revival home of current owner (1985), George Cannon Glascow (1865-1916), was constructed in 1907. The original Cannon home that sat of this property is gone and replaced with the original Carolina “I” house which was buried under the remodeling efforts from 1907-09, another outstanding piece of work by Newberry contractor, C.C. Davis, for Louis Glascow Haynie the daughter of G.C. Glascow.

Please enjoy this structure and all those listed in Roots and Recall. But remember each is private property. So view them from a distance or from a public area such as the sidewalk or public road.
Do you have information to share and preserve? Family, school, church, or other older photos and stories are welcome. Send them digitally through the “Share Your Story” link, so they too might be posted on Roots and Recall.
