City Directories and History: “The Clinton Hospital, often called Hays Hospital, was erected in 1917 on East Main Street in Clinton. The brick hospital was a modern steam-heated facility, fully equipped with X-ray equipment, clinical laboratory facilities, and graduate nurses. The hospital was organized by Dr. S. C. Hays, C. W. Stone, J. D. Bell, and J. I. Copeland. The hospital burned in 1926. After the fire, Hays Hospital moved to the J. W. Copeland residence on the corner of Woodrow and Hampton Streets in Clinton. The Copeland House was converted into a hospital.” Information from: Laurens Co Postcard Series, LCMA, Arcadia Publishing – 2007
