City Directories and History: 1917 – Augustus Huff, (#525) Earle Wilson, 1948 – James K. Maye, Keith Wilson, 1975 – Fred W. Seward
This high Victorian home, a Lauren’s Landmark house was constructed in circa 1895, was built by a local contractor, by the name of Barnett.
The Folk Victorian style of architecture is evident in the ornate woodwork around the house and porch of this building. It is this decorative feature that gives the house its name. Constructed for Augustus Huff around 1890-95, the small second-story porch has a distinctive bell-cast mansard roof. Mr. Huff owned a successful fertilizer business representing a large Guano manufacturing concern and served as a member of the Laurens City Council.
This piece of outstanding architecture is one of many along Lauren’s West Main Street historic corridor. Enjoy seeing them all on RootsandRecall.com
