City Directories and History: In 1979, the Charlie Duckett home was recorded by the survey team. They stated it was constructed about 1892 by Charlie Duckett an early lumber yard owner of African American descent. They listed the house at 105 Downs Street.
In 1922 this home was listed as 110 Downs Street by the Sanborn Insurance corporation. This house was constructed for Duckett by his associate, Columbus White, a local African American contractor who built many fine home throughout the Laurens region.
