A bakery was operated here in 1922. But earlier the second floor was used as the printing offices of the Laurens Advertiser. The paper originally was edited by Conway Garlington and later sold to Col. B.W. Ball. The paper later moved to the opposite end of the block and was housed in a new building at #103 East Laurens Street, just beyond the corner of the Laurens Square.
