City Directories and History: The Rock Hill Herald reported on May 27, 1880 – “The Baptist Church at Lancaster is nearing completion. The seats have been place in the building, and only the painting remains to be done.”
On June 23, 1881 the RH Herald reported, “The Baptist Church at Lancaster was dedicated last Sunday.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on July 19, 1899 in a report from the Lancaster Ledger – “A contract for the erection of a new Baptist Church in Lancaster has been awarded to Mr. W.G. Adams of Rock Hill. The building will occupy the site of the present church. It will be 40 ft by 76 ft., modern in design with a sloping floor, slate roof, large stained glass windows, three entrances and a central heating system. The interior will have natural woods with a hard oil finish.”
The Rock Hill Herald reported on Jan. 22, 1880 – “A number of people gave theatrical entertainments at the Baptist Church in Lancaster recently. The proceeds of which were given for the completion of the church building.”
The Lancaster News reported on July 18, 1906 – “Mr. W.G. Adams, the well known builder and contractor now of Camden, S.C., spent Sunday in Lancaster, his old home.”
The Rock Hill Record reported on Oct. 26, 1908 – “Mr. J.H. Starr has secured the contract for remodeling the Baptist Church in Lancaster and building some additions.”
