City Directories and History: “The Tillman Grade School was built in 1926. The one-story brick building laid in the common bond pattern with a two-foot-high water table. With bays across the facade, the structure has exposed eaves and a bracketed in the gable ends. The windows are nine over nine (9/9) lights. A pediment rises above the recessed central entrance.
Interior features include the original pine floors, narrow beaded wainscoting and blackboards. The auditorium, located in the back of the building, the original light fixtures, potbellied stove, stage curtains and chairs.
In 1964, the building was vacated. For several years it has been adaptively used as an antique shop.”
