City Directories and History: Built about 1915-20 by Mr. and Mrs. Stoney English Lyles. Mrs. Lyles was the former Helen McDonald and the house was built next door to her family home. Stoney and only son Donald ran the first supermarket concept grocery on the east corner of Congress and Liberty Streets in the late 1940’s. Later the home was that of Lyles Boyd, Stoney’s nephew who ran a wholesale grocery business on Congress Street. Most recently, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer McMaster have called this their home.
