City Directories and History: The location of the original as well as the second building used by the Methodist church congregations was also the location of the cemetery. The property is adjacent to the Carlisle house, as is reported to be the first church building in Winnsboro built on this site in 1808, the land and building donated by Capt. John Buchanan.
The FCHS members have stated on numerous occasions that the old church building was moved to Mt. Zion School and later used as a dining hall for students.
