City Directories and History: 1961 – Fairfield Oil Company,
This building was constructed after 1912. North Congress Street at that time consisted on a mixture of dwellings and frame commercial buildings.
The quaint granite building at 134 N. Congress Street was constructed in the 1940’s as the Community Federal Savings and Loan run by Mr. Joe Rutledge with Mrs. R. V. Wood as cashier. After their move to 120 S. Congress Street in the mid-1950’s, Fairfield Oil Company run by Mr. J. E. Stevenson then occupied this location.. It is now the home of Linda’s Hair Care Center run by Mrs. Linda Irby. [Information provided by J.S. Lyles]
