City Directories and History: The Elmwood – Ouzts House….  Conrad Martin Lowrey was born 11 Mar 1797 and died 24 Mar 1860.   His obit as published in the Edgefield Advertiser states: Conrad Lowry died at his residence in Edgefield District on the morning of March 24, 1860, aged 63 years.  He was baptized at Little Stevens’ Creek Baptist Church, about the year 1822, by the Reverend Basil Manly.  He leaves a wife, two sons and three daughters.  The Edgefield Advertiser,  April 4, 1860: His wife Amina Hamatul Gaines who was born 6 Feb 1799 and died 15 May 1879.

Death notice in S.C. Baptist Newspaper:  “Lowrey, Mrs. A.H. of Edgefield Co., died May 15, 1879, age 80.  She was a member of the Baptist Church 56 years” two of Conrad’s daughters married into the Ouzts Family. Martha Hill Lowery married James Daniel Ouzts s/o George Peter Ouzts and Elizabeth Harling Ouzts.  Martha was James’s second wife. Frances Amina Lowery married James Talbert Ouzts s/o Isaac Curtis Ouzts and Mary Steifle Ouzts.
James Talbert ‘Jim’ Ouzts was the J. T. Ouzts, who purchased the house, when Conrad’s Estate was settled after the death of his wife in 1879.  Information courtesy of: Dr. Constance T. McNeill – 2019
